What you eat may seem like no big deal, but it has a huge impact on every area of your life.

Most people don’t put much thought into what they eat. And, even when we know that we shouldn’t eat something, our better judgment usually loses out to cravings, social pressure or even just a lack of time. However, there are many reasons to make it a point to follow a healthy diet, and it has an impact on more areas of your life than you might think. In our last blog, we touched on three reasons to start following a healthy diet. Keep reading to learn more.

Here are three more reasons to follow a healthy diet:

#4. You’ll have more energy.

If you’re like most people, then you probably feel tired a lot more of the time than you’d like to. This is probably most obvious when you get finished eating a big, unhealthy meal, leaving you feeling like you need a nap. But, when you follow a healthy diet most of the time, you’ll notice a difference in your energy levels. That’s because balanced diets give your body the fuel it needs, and when you fuel up on nutrients, like protein and fiber, it gives you sustained energy rather than the quick and short-lived boost you get from sugar and carbohydrates.

#5. You’ll be more productive.

How does your diet affect your performance at work or at school? Diet is hugely important from a productivity standpoint. One study that was published in Population Health Management found that, when you eat an unhealthy diet, you have a 66 percent higher risk of losing productivity. Another study that was published in the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine found that, out of 19 possible risk factors — including chronic pain, financial instability and a lack of exercise — a poor diet led to the highest risk of low productivity.

#6. You’ll live longer.

From the beginning of time, humans have mythologized about living forever through stories and legends, but too often, we overlook one of the most important aspects of living a long life — diet. Following a healthy diet helps to lower your risk of becoming overweight or obese, which also lowers your risk for a whole host of diseases and health concerns that can lower your lifespan. Additionally, since diet plays a role in your energy levels and how you sleep at night, a healthy diet also promotes an all-around healthier lifestyle, which is associated with living longer.

Following a healthy diet doesn’t have to be difficult!

  1. I just started my trek to eating healthy, which also means that I will lose weight as a benefit. This is also my first time trying your service. I must say that I’m impressed. I’m a picky eater and wasn’t sure that I would enjoy different pairings. I just tried the Oven baked Chesapeake Lump crab cakes with steamed broccoli and roasted Red peppers. The serving size was perfect and definitely helping with portion control. I love the fact that nutrition information is included, so that I can log the info in MyFitnessPal. I’m sold! I can’t wait to try the rest of the meals that I ordered.

    1. Hi thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. As someone who loves adventure I like your choice of wording describing this as a “trek”. Trekking is a lifestyle choice and is filled with hardship and great rewards. I am planning to go trekking later this month in the Grand Tetons NP and it does require planning, preparation and an investment of time and $$. The same can be said of your trek to healthier eating. I am confident you will lose weight because you have the right approach that permanent weight loss is a benefit of a healthy lifestyle. At Personal Chef To Go, we are honored to assist you on your trek but ultimately you have to put one foot in front of the other. In addition to our meals, I would suggest you try to fast between 6pm and when you wake. I would recommend you break your fast (see where we get the word breakfast?) with a large glass of filtered water alone or with a few tablespoons of fresh lemon juice or raw apple cider vinegar. This kick-starts the liver and gall bladder to rev up your metabolism. Did you know the liver is our largest fat burning organ in the body? But with poor nutrition and pollutants it can make us feel sluggish and cause us to feel foggy in the head. So keep eating fresh, colorful foods and if you cheat don’t stress it’s only one moment. It’s the accumulation of making good choices that matter not one meal. Wishing you the best in health and don’t hesitate to contact us and share more of your trek with us. Welcome aboard! Chef Blair
